2021 Early Years Conference has ended
The 18th Annual Early Years Conference focus is on understanding the approach to a Multi Tiered System of Support. Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) is a framework that promotes equity and access by engaging “ALL” through a tiered approach that uses differentiation of services and supports. “All means ALL”.

Access and view your schedule by clicking the "Schedule" pull down menu located to the right of your profile picture (or head icon) and clicking "Simple".

On Friday and/or Saturday you will need to log in to your Sched profile and pull up your schedule to see your workshop titles. Click on the workshop to view description, presenter information, view documents and access the Zoom link. Zoom links for each workshop will appear below each workshop title 10 minutes before that workshop is scheduled to begin on each day of the conference. Simply click on the link below the title to enter the virtual workshop. (No links will be emailed to you, you must log into your Sched account to access all Zoom links.)

Some workshops will have documents affiliated with the training you are attending. These documents are available immediately for you if they are on your schedule. It is suggested that prior to the conference, you download to your computer and/or print any documents you are interested in so that you can easily access them during the conference.

Participants will receive 6 PD hours per day. Their hours will be added into the Workforce Registry between 1 to 4 weeks after the conference. Participants will also receive a certificate of completion – but will not be asked to upload this certificate to the Workforce Registry.

Please contact Kelly Slocum at kelly.slocum@sdcoe.net for conference support. Also, visit our Early Years webpage at Early Years > Home (sdcoe.net).

Hello, my name is Kylene Ricketts.  I have 3 children from ages 14 to 18 years old.  I have been married for nearly 14 years.  I began my journey in the Early Childhood field in 2004 as a Licensed Home Day Care Provider after my middle child was born.  My first client was my niece who was born 18 days after.  In 2008, I left my daycare and began working for my local school district in the resource 1:1 field and quickly fell in love with the mod/severe children.  I was fortunate to work with these children and the staff for 10 years.  I also worked for the SBCSS State Preschool Program as a 3 hour Associate Teacher.  During this time I went to community college, totaling 10.5 years before finally graduating in 2005 with an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and Social & Behavioral Sciences.  I was hired almost 3 years ago to be the Teacher/Site Supervisor at the Yucca Valley State Preschool.  I am an open book and am experienced with Special Needs Children of all ages, child ages 3-5, all with differing abilities, behaviors and experiences.  I love being a Preschool Teacher with the children, families and the people in this organization, that have come into my life and how they have made me a better person.  Challenges are my specialty!  I do not shy away when challenges arise.  I step up and in to help everyone I can.  I began this nutrition program about 2 months ago.  I have loved adding it into my weekly activity planning schedule.  I am searching high and low for ideas to reach out to children and their families to increase their healthy behaviors and lifestyles.
